Vulnerable? Nooooo!!! But of course, you are right. As a reader, I want to learn, and the how-to's of a story are important, but what I really look for are the stories that tell me someone else understands, and has survived the battles I am fighting so maybe I can survive my battles too. Thanks Shannon.
“When all is said and done” . This post reminds me I need to commit. Really commit, instead of wasting time on other endeavors, to write. And write a lot, pour it out like molasses, and trust. Since trust is my go to for everybody else’s problems. The call to write must be …
I strugge with this so much. I write about my daughter and some pretty messed up stuff on the street. I was struggling with sharing her story a year ago and only posting in a private group so I asked her and she said she'd want others to know how difficult her choices have been and where they've taken her. The stories I bring from the street are so heart-rending and so needing to be told that they inspire me. The street is a drug. It's my muse. But the best thing about writing is when God speaks to you through what you write. I love it when he shows up! Great post!
When I put out that new post yesterday, about an hour later I read through it and thought to myself, “duh, I should’ve included WHY the Lord gave me that word!” 🤦🏻♀️ Which would’ve been that personal and vulnerable part. I’m sad it’s not in there. 😕 BUT I consoled myself with the thought that I have plenty of opportunities to include those parts of myself going forward. I just really needed the breakthrough of hitting that “post” button, so I’ll take the victory and ditch the regret. 🙂
This was good! It solidified the importance of sharing those things and gave me a goal to consistently reach for. 🤍
I am reading your mail! I literally quoted from what I told you months ago, did you recognize that? 😁😂
Your post was so good! I think you dug deep enough in it, just getting it out there, like you said — and yeah, you can always add the other part later in a different post (in the vein of “they can only keep what they catch” and not adding too much at once).
Vin pointed out that it can go both ways, with adding too much and needing to rein in (hit the brakes) a little — so I guess that’s a topic for another post, too. Maybe I’ll get him to write it. 😎
I did recognize that! 😁👊🏻 (fist bump)…but I didn’t keep it in mind and you didn’t know about my regrets yesterday post post (hmm post post? The english language is funny 😁)…so hence the feeling you’ve been spying on my thoughts 😂
And tell Vin I said, yes please!
Most of my writers woes are all about the issue of “too much”.

Such great perspective. Yes! I want to read about the survivors, too.
A new title just popped up in my mind.

Yes! Sounds like the Lord is speaking to you. Do you already keep a journal?

Thanks so much, Rosemary! That is wonderful and so brave of your daughter to want to share her story for the sake of those who need it.
Geez! Are you reading my mail or something? 😁
